Comments

The "Instituto Nacional de la Vivienda" (INV) (National Housing Institute) was a Spanish body created during the Franco dictatorship on April 19, 1939 and suppressed in 1977 with the aim of promoting housing and ensuring its use. During its existence, thousands of subsidized homes were built.

These Papel de Fianzas (Bond Paper) banknotes from Spain toward the end of the Spanish Civil War. A rental agreement required a bearer document certifying that a fixed amount had been deposited in the Instituto Nacional de la Vivienda (English: National Housing Institute) which was the deposit for the lease. As in any lease agreement, the Instituto Nacional de la Vivienda would refund the deposit subject to compliance of maintenance requirements during the lease period. In the event of damages, payment of the deposit could be limited based on the extent of the damages. Prior to 1984, such a rental agreement and deposit with the Instituto Nacional de la Vivienda was mandatory.
